Joseph has been working at one of Achieve together’s many Supported Living Services, Middle Gordon Road in Camberley a little over a year now, where he and his fellow team members support adults ranging from 24 – 42 years. Originally joining Achieve together as a Support Worker, he was recently promoted and became a Senior Support Worker at the Service.
Having been selected as one of our very first Ambassadors of Achieve together, we caught up with Joseph to find out a little more about him.
From a young age, Joseph says knew he wanted to work with people with additional needs and during school. “I completed a learning and development course Children’s Care which focused on special needs care.” Maintaining his focus Joseph has worked steadily towards his goal enjoying a wide variety of roles supporting people with additional needs from afterschool activities such as drama and dance clubs, working in a special needs school and now to adult social care as a Support Worker.
Joseph says he loves what he does, “The people we support are such characters and not afraid to be themselves. It’s great to see them living happy and fulfilled lives, and it is a privilege to be able to support them and help them to achieve their goals.”
So, what appeals to Joseph about being an Ambassador of Achieve together?
“I am brimming with ideas and want to make a genuine impact in the lives of the people we support and bring Supported Living to the forefront of Head Office minds and the planning process. I hope to improve the quality of work environments and overall happiness for each person on the frontline at the Service level.”
Joseph was one of ten new ‘Ambassadors of Achieve together’ to be selected after an invitation for applicants in June resulted in an overwhelming response. Our ambassadors will enhance our open and two-way dialogue, involving and engaging their fellow team members, creating opportunities for everyone within Achieve together to contribute to the ultimate success of the organisation. The inclusion and involvement of our wider team members will ensure we keep the people we support at the very heart of everything we do and ensure we live our values of having fun, making things happen, being brave and valuing everyone!
