A massive congratulations to Laura Green who is our deserving winner for May.
Laura is a highly valued and highly commended support worker at one of our Supported Living homes in Merseyside. Described as an asset to the home by her peers and management team, Laura always strives to deliver the best experience to those she supports. Laura has shown great resilience and adaptability within her role, and preforms extremely well within a busy, dynamic and fast paced environment.
During May Laura was assigned the task of organising and running a fundraising event in light of Autism Awareness Day. A huge task in itself, Laura was also given the extra challenge of delivering this in only two weeks. Laura never shy’s away from any challenges she is faced with and this was no exception.
Laura set to work straight away and was determined to create an event that would be full of joy and laughter for people she supports at the home, whilst also raising some valuable funds for people she supports. Laura resourcefully used the large grounds at the home, which is a picturesque setting. In under 2 weeks Laura had successfully arranged this day and it was show time. Laura had pulled out all the stops and the visitors and people we support enjoyed egg hunts, an ice cream van, a bouncy castle, face painting, arts & crafts, a cake sale, and sensory play. Everybody who attended the day thoroughly enjoyed themselves and fun was had by all. This was the first public and fully scaled fundraising event since the pandemic began so expectations were high, but Laura did not disappoint.
Laura and the team successfully raised £1300, which is a huge achievement. The funds raised will be used to purchase a new variety of sensory items, tools and activities for people supported. Laura demonstrated the Achieve together values in action by being brave, making sure everyone had fun, making things happen, and valuing everyone.
Well Done Laura!
