Investing in homes, investing in futures: £1.36m heritage programme brings new life to historic properties

We’re restoring historic buildings to create homes that are safe, inspiring, and built to last, starting with £1.36m invested across three Grade II listed homes.

At Achieve together, we believe everyone deserves a home they can be proud of—somewhere that’s safe, comfortable, and full of life. That’s why we’re investing over £1.36 million in some of our most unique and historic homes, ensuring they remain exceptional places to live and thrive.

This investment is part of a wider commitment to maintaining high-quality homes across our portfolio. In a sector facing growing financial and operational pressures, our approach is simple: people come first—and that starts with the environments they live in.

“We are investing not only in bricks and mortar but in dignity, sustainability and the delivery of high-quality support,” said Chief Financial Officer for Achieve together, Chris Saunders. “These properties aren’t just buildings—they are people’s homes and part of their story. They deserve to be safe, inspiring and cared for, just like the people who live in them.”

Three historic homes, three ambitious restorations

We’re working with conservation experts to sensitively restore and futureproof three Grade II listed properties:

  • Our Supported Living home in the Wirral (£500,000): A magnificent 1835 Gothic Revival mansion undergoing a two-year programme to restore over 400 sash windows and preserve its architectural legacy for generations to come.
  • Cerrig Camu, Gwynedd (£500,000): Located in Snowdonia National Park, this home is seeing major roof, gutter and chimney repairs—preserving a rural Welsh heritage property while enhancing comfort and safety.
  • Our Supported Living home in Norfolk (£360,000): Once a working windmill, this unique home is being carefully restored following listed building consent, with works to its brickwork, weatherproofing and historic windows.

These are not just restoration projects—they are a declaration of our long-term intent. We’re making sure each home meets the Achieve together standard: safe, well-maintained, and person-centred.

Why this matters now

We know that when homes are well looked after, people feel looked after too. This programme represents our ongoing investment in places that people we support are proud to call home—and our belief that every person deserves the very best we can offer.

The people who make it happen

These projects wouldn’t be possible without the people behind them. Our property and maintenance teams—including experts like Steve, our regional surveyor—are passionate about preserving the character and warmth of each home.

“Every window, every wall has a story,” Steve said. “It’s not just a job—it’s an honour.”

Looking ahead

We’ll continue to invest in our estate with purpose and care, ensuring that all our homes—heritage or otherwise—remain places where people can live happy, healthy and meaningful lives.

Because when we say people are at the heart of what we do, we mean it. And that starts at home.
