This International Women’s Day (IWD), we are embracing the theme #AccelerateAction, a call to drive faster progress towards gender equality. While significant strides have been made, data from the World Economic Forum suggests that full gender equality is still five generations away—an outcome we cannot accept.
At Achieve together, we are proud to be ahead of the curve, championing equity in social care by fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. Our commitment to fair pay, leadership opportunities, and gender representation ensures that we don’t just talk about change—we take meaningful action to drive it forward.
The gender pay gap in social care: How far have we come?
Social care has a predominantly female workforce, yet women remain underrepresented in leadership roles across the sector. As of 2024, the gender pay gap in UK health and social care stands at 7.8%—down from 14.2% in 2017 but still leaving room for improvement.
At Achieve together, we are setting a new benchmark:
Our latest gender pay gap is just 1.4%—well below both the sector average (7.8%) and the UK national average (13.1%).
We have taken concrete steps to reduce the gap from 2.1% in 2022—and continue to actively monitor and refine our pay structures to ensure fairness for all team members.
How we’re accelerating action
To truly #AccelerateAction, we must go beyond statistics and take tangible steps to create a more equitable workplace. At Achieve together, we are committed to:
- Empowering diverse talent—We recruit, develop, and retain people from all backgrounds, ensuring our leadership reflects the diversity of our teams.
- Supporting women in leadership—We provide career pathways, mentorship, and targeted development opportunities for women to step into senior roles.
- Championing women’s health—We advocate for better awareness and workplace support around women’s health, including menopause and reproductive health.
- Ensuring equal access to training—We continue to offer high-quality development programmes that provide women with the skills and confidence to progress in their careers.
