About this home

Wilbury Gardens is a specialist residential home without nursing in Hove, East Sussex, that provides 24-hour support to seven d/Deaf and/or deafblind adults. People we support have a range of diverse and sometimes complex needs, including learning and physical disabilities, mental ill-health and dementia.

The dedicated team at Wilbury Gardens provides a comfortable and safe environment where people are supported to live with as much independence and choice as possible. People we support enjoy helping to cook, help make decisions about the running of the home, help decorate their rooms and take part in groups in the local area. Whatever a person wants to achieve, we support them to make it happen.

What we offer

Wilbury Gardens is a large three-storey, detached house with eight bedrooms (all with washbasins), two bathrooms and two shower rooms. There’s a spacious, open-plan living and dining area leading to a bright and cosy conservatory, another lounge, plus a kitchen and laundry room.

The home’s gardens are lovely for relaxing or socialising, and people enjoy growing herbs that we cook with. We also offer complementary healthcare services via local practitioners such as aromatherapy, massage, reflexology and chiropody.

Wilbury Gardens is in Hove, East Sussex, close to shops, cafés and the seafront. There’s a large park close by, and we’re a short walk to Hove station. Brighton, with its shops, restaurants, bars and theatres all within easy reach.

Lifestyle

Our patient and skilled team is here to support each person to achieve their goals and live life to the fullest. We use a range of techniques to communicate with people we support and use each person’s preferred method.

Our team works with people we support and their families and support professionals to create a tailored support plan detailing their specific needs, interests and goals. People supported can come and go as they please. Some people help with walking dogs at a rescue centre, others visit relatives, while another teaches a knitting class.

One person supported shared, “It’s perfect; I love it here.”

Like in any family home, everyone helps with cooking, cleaning their room and even feeding the cat. Mealtimes are social and fun, and we can support special diets. There are regular home meetings, so people have a voice in how the home is run.
