About this home

Arundel House is a residential home that supports adults with autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities, complex needs including behaviours that others may find challenging, restricted mobility, sight/hearing impairment, and dementia.

Each person has an individual activity plan tailored around their likes and dislikes to ensure that they participate in meaningful activities. Everyone living at Arundel House is encouraged to be involved in the running of the home through weekly menu planning meetings and involvement in regular health and safety committee meetings. The support team is available 24 hours a day, including waking nights when required.

What we offer

Arundel House’s communal spaces include a large lounge with a dining area, a separate dining room, a small lounge, a well-equipped kitchen, and a ground-floor wet room. With three ground-floor bedrooms and seven on the first floor, all have either an en-suite shower room or a bathroom.

The home is one road back from the beach at Frinton-on-Sea and a five-minute walk to the local shops. The town has a library, good restaurants and coffee shops, a number of places of worship, and access to local colleges and is celebrated for its tennis and golf clubs.

Colchester is approximately a 20-minute drive away and is easily accessible by train or bus. There is a bus stop and train station within walking distance of Arundel House, and Essex County Council operates a bus pass scheme for people who have disabilities, which enables them to travel freely throughout the county between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. Travel training is offered by the team, and the house also has two vehicles of its own.

Lifestyle

Everybody living here is very sociable, and all have a nurturing nature for each other. Things can get noisy and busy here, but it is a friendly environment.

People living at Arundel House have a range of different activities they can participate in, including:

Every Thursday – Creative Mojo, An all-inclusive craft experience come and do a session.
Every Friday – Music & Movement with Frederick Douglas Performing Arts Academy.

We also like to go to Cadows Day Centre and take part in cookery, cinema evenings, gardening, games nights, karaoke, day visits to Colchester Zoo, bowling, cinema trips, theatre trips, concerts, and days out to Colchester lakeside.
