December Team member of the month

The final Team member of the month award goes to Abbie Elliott, Support Worker at supported living accommodation in Frimley. Well done, Abbie!

Abbie’s exceptional dependability and consistent drive to go above and beyond set her apart. In a heartfelt nomination, her manager Joe Scaife says he has never felt compelled to nominate anyone before now. He describes her as ‘the heartbeat of our team.’

Deeply loved by her colleagues and adored by people supported at the supported living accommodation, Abbie can forge meaningful relationships and create a nurturing environment that fosters trust and positivity. Her unwavering commitment to the well-being, growth, and happiness of those she supports is extraordinary. Joe says: “If they could, every person we support would choose her as their keyworker, reflecting her profound impact on their lives.”

He continues: “Abbie has transformed the atmosphere in our home by organising meaningful and inclusive activities that bring joy and a sense of community to everyone involved. Her creativity and initiative shine through her efforts to host coffee mornings and plan personalised experiences that foster connection, joy, and personal growth.”

As a keyworker, Abbie excels in her duties tailoring her support to meet everyone’s unique needs and preferences. Her approach ensures everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. It inspires her colleagues and enhances the lives of everyone around her. She is a true advocate for inclusion, empowerment, and well-being, making a lasting impact on everyone she works with.

Runners up

This month the joint runners up were Hastings Golosi, Support Worker at The Droveway and Rebecca Russell, Support Worker at Ashford Lodge.

Hastings is praised for his warm personality and attention to body language and facial expressions of people he supports enabling him to develop strong relationships. He has also created wonderful newsletters for the home, allowing family members to enjoy reading about the many achievements and activities.

Becky’s Deputy Manager also nominated her for the great relationships built with everyone. She shared a story of Becky taking her learning and compassion into her off-duty hours. Becky helped a man who was lying in the street, discovering that he was learning disabled and had experienced a diabetic episode. She called an ambulance, advocated for the gentleman and contacted his home (run by another company), waiting with him until he was able to be properly supported.

What wonderful stories from three dedicated team members.
