The prevalence of epilepsy in people with intellectual (learning) disabilities is reported to be at least 20 times greater than within the general population, with approximately 22.5% of people with an intellectual disability presenting with an epilepsy diagnosis.

Epilepsy is the most common neurological condition in the UK, affecting approximately 600,000 people and is disproportionately more prevalent for people with learning disabilities – affecting more than 1 in 5 people.
