August employee of the month

This month, our congratulations go to Charlotte Harpin, Healthcare Facilitator in the Health & Wellbeing Team, who receives the August Employee of the month award.

Charlotte was nominated by the Home Manager of Vallance Gardens, Ewelina Harding, with whom she works closely.

Ewelina says: “Charlotte exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding employee through her dedication, expertise, and compassionate approach to her work. Her consistent availability and willingness to address both health-related issues and general questions demonstrate her commitment to supporting her colleagues and ensuring smooth operations. She supported me through weeks of preparing to admit a new person to my home and it was invaluable.

“Charlotte’s expertise in gastro assessments is particularly noteworthy. Her patience and ability to put team members at ease during these assessments highlight her excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism.”

Enhancing skills

Alongside this, Ewelina is full of praise for the successful Supportive Therapy Day for people we support with profound and multiple disabilities. Charlotte was fully involved in its organisation. She is also committed to continuous improvement, providing intensive interaction training for the team at Vallance Gardens. This initiative not only enhances the skills of team members but also directly benefits people supported, demonstrating Charlotte’s genuine desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

Ewelina is also grateful for Charlottle’s proactive approach in sharing information about events for people we support, ‘showing her holistic understanding of their needs and her dedication to enriching their lives beyond basic care’.

In response to her award win, Charlotte commented: “I was absolutely delighted and surprised to be nominated, let alone win Employee of the month. This is made even more special by Ewelina also winning Manager of the month for August!

“I love working with all the teams and people supported in my role as Healthcare Facilitator, but I particularly have a passion for supporting people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and the fantastic teams who support them. Vallance Gardens is one of these homes and I am so pleased to have the privilege of supporting them. We are all one team and working together for one goal of ensuring people live meaningful, happy, healthy lives.”

“I always like to shout about the fantastic support I see when I am supporting homes and feel that I am just part of the mechanism which enables people to achieve their goals. It means everything to me to have this recognition for the support I have provided but equally it makes me so happy to see the fantastic achievements we accomplish together.”
