As we mark Professional Care Workers’ Week in the UK (16-20 September), it’s a fitting time to celebrate the incredible contributions of carers who dedicate their lives to supporting others. At Achieve together, the commitment to valuing team members and recognising their positive impact is central to our ethos. Indeed, one of our four values is Valuing everyone.
We are taking time to reflect on and celebrate all that is good in social care. Within Achieve together we are fortunate to have passionate, proactive and highly skilled support teams. Achieve together is renowned for its unwavering dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for its team members. We understand that the foundation of high-quality care lies in the wellbeing and satisfaction of our team members. By fostering a culture of shared values, we ensure that every team member feels valued, respected, and empowered to make a difference.
Developing rapport
Supporting adults with learning disabilities to live their best lives is a privilege and requires professional carers to gain the trust of each person we support as we develop rapport and get to know people extremely well. The positive impact of Achieve together’s carers on people we support is profound. Through the development of relationships and person-centred support, we can understand what each person wants from their life and support them to lead the life they want. This in turn gives us as professional carers a wonderful sense of satisfaction that we are indeed making a difference.
Social care relies on individuals with a passion to get the best out of people, and also on teams. One such team is the support team at Avenue Road, South Norwood. This is typical of teams across Achieve together and the wider social care sector. As a supported living team they have a clear vision for the support they offer. They have supported people with learning disabilities and autistic people to maintain stability in their lives, enhance life and coping skills. The team members do this with enthusiasm, focusing on individual strengths and seeking to build confidence and esteem.
Join us in taking this opportunity to express gratitude to all professional carers and recognise the vital role they play in our communities. Thank you for your unwavering dedication and for making the world a better place, one person at a time.
Fantastic achievements
Today, as one way of marking the start of Professional Carers Week, we join the Chief Nurse for Adult Social Care, Professor Deborah Sturdy, in acknowledging the fantastic achievements of the Avenue Road Team. They have received the ‘Chief Nurse Adult Social Care Team Award’, for the skills, expertise, kindness and compassion they have demonstrated over the last few years.
Professor Sturdy joined us virtually to present the award.
Congratulations Avenue Road supported living team, and all the social care individuals and teams across the UK. May you continue to shine and positively impact on the lives of others.
