April Employee of the month

Congratulations to Charmaine Matthews, Support Worker at DCA West Bromwich who is our Employee of the month for April

Charmaine has empowered a person we support to start to communicate verbally thanks to her tireless efforts. She has a ‘very bubbly and happy personality’ and works continually to communicate effectively with this person. He now responds with yes and no – a wonderful achievement, which is ongoing between the two of them.

Further enhancing this man’s quality of life, Charmaine has also supported him to lose weight and take a stroll through the local area most evenings.

Charmaine commented: “I am really grateful to win Employee of the month. I am so thankful and proud of the hard work I have given while at work and the continuous achievements of people we support. This has given me a drive to continue to work hard and ensure that the people I support reach all their goals. Thank you to management for supporting me and everyone involved.”

Runners up

The Employee of the month runners up are Sachith Agampodi, Support Worker at Supported Living in Blackwood (224) and Jack Hill, Support Worker at Supported Living in Pontypool (165).

From his first day, Sach built positive relationships with people we support at the home and another neighbouring one. Now full-time, he is a flexible and popular team member with everyone, encouraging people supported to garden and try new recipes. Home Manager Catherine Eales says: “His infectious attitude and smile ensures that people we support are positive and have good days.”

This is Jack’s first job in adult health and social care and he has made an impact in just seven months. Always wanting to make positive change, he has built amazing relationships with people we support. Each day he follows and promotes our values and puts his newfound knowledge of procedures, policies and legislation into practice. He prides himself on reducing restrictions within the home.

Congratulations to Charmaine, Sachith and Jack!
