Arrowe Hall supported living home in the Wirral kick-started its festive celebrations with a Winter Wonderland event. The glorious occasion was held in memory of three much-loved sisters who the home supported.
The home, which delivers high-quality care to adults with complex needs, hosted a heart-warming evening attended by many local people. Exciting activities included a variety of outdoor lights, dance performances and music, gift and craft stalls, cake sales, homecooked food and a memory tree. More than £2,000 was raised for the Huntington’s Disease Association, with donations still coming in.
Huntington’s Disease is a health condition which is very close to the hearts of those at Arrowe Hall. In recent years, team members have provided exceptional end of live care to sisters Vicky Aspinall and Claire Unsworth who fiercely battled the diseases alongside their other sister Becky Aspinall.
More specialist care
The three sisters’ families came to the event, having themselves donated funds and gifts to the special evening. They were joined by representatives from the charity and other members of the close-knit Arrowe Hall community. The event was also made all the more poignant, as Arrowe Hall is currently delivering specialist care to another person living with the condition. The unique occasion presented a welcome opportunity to fondly remember and celebrate the lives of those who battled, and are battling, the disease, as well as to create some festive joy and special memories at the start of the Christmas period.
Home Manager Sarah Moss, said: “Our Christmas Wonderland was such a special event, and I am so proud of everyone who was involved. It was a perfect tribute to our three beautiful ladies, Vicky, Claire, and Becky, all of whom have battled so fiercely with Huntington’s disease.
“This is a cause that is incredibly close to the hearts of myself, our team, and those we feel so lucky to support. It was a great opportunity to share fond memories and make new ones.
“We would like to thank everyone who has generously donated to our fundraising efforts so far and look forward to continuing to work closely with our community on more opportunities that enable us to join together.”
