What we offer

This home has four bedrooms and one flat, as well as a communal living room, dining room, and fully equipped kitchen so people can socialise.

There is a large garden area with its own vegetable patch and polyfunnel, so individuals can grow their own fruit and vegetables if they wish.

The home is situated in a small residential area called Abersychan; it lies on the outskirts of Pontypool on the road towards Blaenavon. The Area is somewhat semi-rural as there are lots of sounding green spaces and wooded areas, although it also has a moderately large number of residential properties also.

The home is a 10-15-minute bus ride to Pontypool town centre; buses are every 30 minutes. Cwmbran, with its large shopping centre, is about a 25-minute journey via bus. There is a wide range of community facilities close by, including shops, pubs, restaurants, and local colleges. There are also great transport links to Cardiff and Newport.

Lifestyle

We engage individuals with a good sense of positivity, fun and humour and strive to bring out the best in the individuals we support. We have a very high level of person-centred support, ensuring support is tailored around the needs of the individual.

At this home, people are supported to take part in a range of leisure activities, such as cooking, day trips to the surrounding areas, holidays, swimming, Tai Chi, music sessions, arts and crafts sessions, and using community facilities such as eating at restaurants and visits to the local pub.

We have regular communal meal times, with each individual being supported to cook & prepare one shared meal per week. Saturday brunch and takeaway evening, as well as Sunday lunch with a choice of meat/vegetables each week. We host regular music quizzes at the home and have a karaoke machine.

We have a local activity class provider, ‘Diversity’, to which we support attendance each Wednesday. The class offers arts and crafts sessions as well as cookery and a chance to socialise with individuals with similar interests.
