About this home

Douglas House is a well established residential home that provides bespoke care to young adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, autism spectrum conditions and behaviours that may challenge.

Douglas House uses person-centred planning to support individuals, allowing them to live the life they choose, make decisions, enhance their daily living and independence skills, understand their rights and responsibilities and access local communities for work, education training and leisure opportunities.

This home includes 24-hour support and 1:1 care when needed, as well as sleep-in support.

What we offer

Douglas House is situated on a residential street in Plymouth, a close walk from the town and the train station. Each of the four individual en-suite rooms can be decorated according to individual preferences, choices and sensory needs.

Douglas House features a communal living room, kitchen and dining room so people can have independence. There is also a patio area for leisure and recreational use so individuals can enjoy the outdoors.

Lifestyle

People at Douglas House are supported to increase independence and are supported with their choices to attend college, events and activities. People we support enjoy celebrating seasonal events and do so by throwing parties, baking and socialising with others locally.

Many people have enjoyed taking part in weekly voluntary work placements, and two individuals gained warden qualifications in Fire safety and Road safety, which they both passed with flying colours.

People can also enjoy culture nights to explore new cuisines and are encouraged to try new things.
